Olavio Juninho Signs for Flamengo After Successful Time at Qarabag
Qarabag football player Olavio Juninho has been transferred to Flamengo. The Brazilian forward, who has been playing for the Aghdam club since the summer of 2023, scored 42 goals in 81 games.
He played 48 matches in the Premier League (23 goals), six in the National Cup (five goals), and 27 in the European Cup (14 goals). He became the national champion and cup winner with Qarabag.
Sevilla were also interested
Since December, rumours have circulated about Juninho's potential transfer to Spanish club Sevilla.
The Agdam representative initially rejected Sevilla's offer of €2 million. The Spanish club then made an offer of €3 million to Qarabag.
Then the player himself refused to transfer to Sevilla. The reason for this was both the player's desire to return to his country and Flamengo's offer of a higher salary than Sevilla.
Qarabag’s Farewell
Qarabag also expressed their gratitude to the 28-year-old striker.
“Good luck, Olavio Juninho!
“We thank Olavio Juninho for his services to our club and wish him success in his future career.
“Thank you, Olavio!”
Juninho’s Emotional Farewell
Following the transfer, the Brazilian player did not forget about Qarabag fans:
“You already know that I left the club. I want to thank every fan for the support they have shown me. The years I spent at Qarabag were the best moments of my life. During this time, I experienced many happy moments. Of course, there were also sad moments.
“I am leaving here with both great joy and sadness. I wish Qarabag great success in the future. This club achieves their goals. You will become stronger with the support of the fans.”
Qarabag Receives €5 Million
It should be noted that Juninho has signed a contract with Flamengo until 2028. Juninho's transfer to Flamengo earned Qarabağ €5 Million.
